Current treatments for diabetic retinopathy - which affects around 27% of diabetics - require painful eye injections, leading to low patient compliance. GC01, an innovative Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula, offers a promising non-invasive alternative. Targeting the novel myoferlin-related pathway, it has demonstrated encouraging vision-restoring results in early human trials. With strong industry support, the project is aiming at becoming the first NMPA-approved TCM in Hong Kong and the second botanical drug approved by FDA.
